Milford Exempted Village Schools recently issued the following announcement.
A new group of classes in the biomedical field will be offered to Milford High School students next school year after the Board of Education approved the program on Jan. 20.
Students will now be able to take classes in Principles of the Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions and Biomedical Innovation as part of Project Lead the Way. PLTW is a satellite program of Great Oaks, and is taught at Milford High School.
In these courses, students explore the concepts of human medicine and are introduced to topics such as physiology, genetics, microbiology and public health. The program is designed to prepare students to pursue a post-secondary education and careers in the biomedical sciences. Scheduling for next year begins at MHS in a few weeks.
“Milford High School is excited to welcome the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences four-course pathway,” said Paul Daniels, director of secondary curriculum. “This exciting opportunity will allow students to stay on campus while completing the classes. With the explosion of healthcare openings and seamless match with our Portrait of an Eagle competencies, our students are again well positioned for college, career, or military.”
