Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) is set to lead a markup session of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic's final report on December 4, 2024. This action is part of the subcommittee's mandate under the rules of the 118th Congress, which required a comprehensive investigation into the policies and decisions made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over its two-year review period, the Select Subcommittee has been active in its investigations. The staff and members have issued over 100 investigative letters, conducted more than 30 transcribed interviews or depositions, held 25 hearings or meetings, and examined over one million pages of documents.
The upcoming final report will encompass several key areas including:
- Origins of COVID-19 with a focus on gain-of-function research
- Taxpayer-funded COVID-19 relief programs
- Laws enacted in response to COVID-19
- Development and implementation of COVID-19 vaccines
- Economic impact on individuals, communities, businesses, states, and governments
- Societal impacts such as school closures
- Decisions made by the executive branch related to COVID-19
- Cooperation between the executive branch and Congress for future pandemic prevention
The Select Subcommittee plans to release this final report to the public before the markup session.
The session is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 at 10:30 AM ET in room 2247 Rayburn House Office Building. It will be accessible to both public and press attendees and will also be available via livestream at https://oversight.house.gov/.
