Adam Bird, House Representative of Ohio, announced that the new state budget will deliver tax cuts, property tax relief, and increased support for schools and local governments. The statement was made on the social media platform X.

"I will be voting YES today on a budget that has tax cuts for many Ohioans and property tax relief for every residential owner," said Bird. "At the same time, we send more money to schools and support local governments. Thank you Brian Stewart and Mike Dovilla for pushing House priorities. Ohio is poised for growth and opportunity."

Ohio's 2025 state budget, as reported by AP News, introduces a flat 2.75% income tax for most residents by 2026. It also increases school funding and provides property tax relief through limits on school district cash reserves. The $60 billion package includes $600 million for a new Cleveland Browns stadium and implements several changes to school finance and local taxation.

According to the Ohio House of Representatives, the 2025 budget phases in a flat tax rate from 3.5% to 2.75% and delivers historic property tax relief by capping levies and restricting reserve carryovers. School districts are set to receive a 4% increase in state aid over the biennium, with even larger boosts targeted for charter and career-tech programs.

Policy Matters Ohio and the Tax Foundation report that Ohio’s new 2.75% flat income tax will be the second-lowest among states with flat tax rates, below Indiana’s 3.05%, Pennsylvania’s 3.07%, Kentucky’s 4%, and Michigan’s 4.25%. This positions Ohio competitively within the region's shift toward lower, simpler income tax structures.

Ballotpedia notes that Bird is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 69th District, with prior experience on school boards and in business development. His legislative work centers on tax relief, education funding reform, and fiscal responsibility, mirroring priorities in the current state budget.
