City of Loveland recently issued the following announcement.
This spring, the City of Loveland will utilize grant funding to construct a “pocket park,” an outdoor dining area located at City Hall’s front lawn, 120 West Loveland Avenue.
The area will feature three mounted tables and a waste/recycling station. A concrete patio will be poured with an enhanced brick ribbon, similar to the updated sidewalks along a portion of North Karl Brown Way and West Loveland Avenue (in front of Bishop’s Quarter and Tano Bistro, for reference). Both the seating area and sidewalk access have been designed for handicap accessibility.
The pocket park project is fully funded through a Hamilton County Community Development Block Grant, which supports the promotion of outdoor dining. Approximately $33,000 was available in grant funds, and the city secured multiple quotes for the project at a total cost of $21,108.45.
“These types of 100% grant-funded opportunities do not present themselves often, and the ability to add a downtown amenity at no cost to the city was one that staff felt deserved our attention and immediate coordination,” said City Manager David Kennedy.
The pocket park’s layout meets the Downtown Streetscape Committee’s goal to provide more usable dining areas in the city’s DORA District to help disburse visitors. Additionally the layout does not diminish the existing greenspace, and more landscaping could be added in the future.
