Cincinnati Secures 77-44 Road Win Over Ohio
Four Bearcats finished in double figures to lead the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team to a 77-44 road win over Ohio inside Convocation Center on Tuesday night.
With the win, Cincinnati improves to 6-5 on the season. The 33-point margin marks the largest road win under head coach Michelle Clark-Heard.
Senior guard Dais'Ja Trotter recorded a career-high 13 points in 12 minutes off the bench, while senior guard Caitlyn Wilson finished with 12 points on 4-5 from three-point range. Sophomore guard Braylyn Milton added 12 points and two assists.
Junior guard Jillian Hayes posted her 10th-straight double-digit scoring game, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds.
After Ohio raced out to a 6-0 lead, Cincinnati settled in and took back the lead after a 12-0 run that was capped off on a Malea Williams' three from the top of the key. The Bearcats found their footing defensively and limited the Bobcats to three of their final 13 field goals in the first quarter.
Cincinnati maintained the momentum out of the timeout and used another 17-0 run, their largest spurt of the season, to start the second quarter. The Bearcats converted on 63.6 percent from the field in the period and outscored their opponent 19-5 in the frame to take a 36-20 lead into the half.
A 23-2 run that was closed out Trotter's third three of the game extended the lead as many as 35 late in the fourth quarter.
Cincinnati finished 50.0 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from three. The Bearcats are now 19-0 when shooting 50.0 percent or better from the field under Clark-Heard.
The Bearcats received a season-high 41 points from its bench and out-rebounded their opponent 44-22. Williams tied a career-high 10 rebounds and dished out a career-high four assists. The Bearcats forced 22 turnovers and turned it into 23 points.
Cincinnati returns home to Fifth Third Arena to host Southern Indiana on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
