Bonnie Batchler, the incumbent Republican member of the Clermont County Board of County Commissioners, has announced her bid for re-election. The elections are scheduled to take place on March 19.
According to her profile on the Clermont County Board of County Commissioners' website, Batchler has been serving as a commissioner since January 2021. She held the position of board president in 2022 and 2023. Currently, she is a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Board of Revision Investment Advisory Committee. Additionally, Batchler serves on the board of directors for Clermont County Community Services and the Senior Service Housing Board.
Batchler's county webpage also reveals her extensive experience in public service. Beginning in 1981, she served as EMS chief of the Pierce Township Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years. Over the past eight years, she has been president of the Clermont County Township Association. In addition to her public service roles, Batchler spent 36 years working at Senco Products and retired as a senior credit analyst. She is also an alumnus of the Clermont 20/20 Leadership Program, having graduated in 2009.
During her campaign for election to the Board of County Commissioners in 2020, Batchler expressed her views in an opinion piece for The Clermont Sun. She wrote: "We should be having high minded debates about taxes, economic development, public safety, and solutions for combating the opioid epidemic."
In that same opinion piece, Batchler emphasized her belief in positivity's value and importance amid a negative political climate. She stated: "I realize that it’s now more important than it ever has been before to elect the right people to office. If we give in and allow lovers of negativity to win the day, then we will all pay the price. I will continue to run my campaign on issues. I will continue to run my campaign on the hope for a better Clermont County."
The Clermont County Board of County Commissioners, according to its website, "prepares and administers the overall county budget, is the county’s contracting authority, and develops and adopts policies for the administration of county services. The Commissioners implement laws and rules put forth by state agencies and the Legislature."
