Sewer rates will increase 3% for City of Loveland utility accounts, beginning Jan. 1, 2023. Customers will see the rate increase effective with the bill due on Feb. 15, 2023.
While your utility bill may come from the City of Loveland, the city does not control sanitary sewer rates. Those rates are set by the Hamilton County Commissioners for the entire Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) of Greater Cincinnati.
In 1985, the City of Loveland and Hamilton County entered a contract where the city would continue to own its sewer plant and sewer system, but MSD would operate the plant.
MSD has not adjusted its service fees since 2015. It is citing inflation, infrastructure replacement, and federal compliance regulations as reasons for the 3% increase.
This increase will cost the average single-family home an additional $18 a year or $1.50 a month.
If you have questions about the rate increase, please contact MSD Customer Service at (513) 244-1300.
